The Diku Dilenga team, from the Demorcatic Republic of the Congo and from Canada, is pleased to wish you: “ Happy New Year 2009”.

In DR Congo, many projects have been accomplished even with our sparse resources. It's mainly due to our generous volunteers. The participants' engouement and their abilities to leverage what we can give them is true source of satisfaction.

New projects should start soon, with the main objectives of increasing the microcredit fund and insuring its stable growth. For example, we expect to realize this two projects:

• We want to start a taxi operation (allowed by our mandate, and already practiced by other NGO/NPO). A preliminary study let us expect covering the cost of a car buyout and its exploitation for 9 months, while generating around $5,000 for the microcredit fund and rewards for the volunteers.
• We are not far to sign a partnership with UNICEF to redistribute the funds allocated to the Occidental Kasai province. People targeted by UNICEF programs will benefit from Diku Dilenga training facilities and will have access to our microcredit program too.

In Canada, we have not been so successful but we are inspired by successes in DR Congo. The fundraiser event we expected to conduct last October will be scheduled this year. And the twinning children program should definitively start soon (everything is ready in DR Congo, we are just missing Canadian school participants).
